As noted in my previous diary, SCOOP: US Attorney for Delaware is being replaced? there may be an overlap between the US Attorney scandal and the announcement that one of defendant Steven J. Rosen's attorney's will be returning to the US Attorney office in the District of Delaware to head its Criminal Division. As opined in that diary, the reason for the move may have been to have Keith M. Rosen, Steven's attorney, in the office so that when the US Attorney resigns or is fired, Rosen could be installed on a 'temporary basis' by Gonzales without having Rosen appointed and confirmed by the Senate.
However, today I wish to pursue the case from a different angle. The signal by attorney Rosen to remove himself as the second chair for the defense may be interpreted as the first step in the United States dropping the charges in their entirety. In other words, Rosen may have been an indication that the United States will drop the charges because Karl Rove and the Bush Crime Family do not want to have a precedent for violations of the Espionage Act, and for other purposes.
This diary argues that it would be in the best interests of the Bush Crime Family to drop the charges.
